Seeds of Syntropy

Seeds of Syntropy - Mediterranean Syntropic Agriculture
A Beautiful Mediterranean Example of

Syntropic Agroforestry

What if the future of farming looked more like a forest? In Portugal, farmer Marc Leiber is cultivating a new vision for agriculture - one that uses succession, stratification, and alignment with natural processes to grow many different crops together in dense, thriving ecosystems developing into natural forests. This is syntropic agriculture, a natural farming system developed by Ernst Götsch drawing from his insights of nature itself. By working with ecological succession, diversity, and living soil, syntropic systems can transform degraded land into vibrant landscapes full of food, fertility, and life.

Syntropic farming is built on the understanding that life moves toward greater diversity, complexity, and abundance when the right conditions are created. By guiding ecological succession and working with natural processes, farmers can regenerate soil, restore biodiversity, and produce nourishing food, all at the same time. This film invites viewers into Marc’s farm to witness a different relationship between humans and land - one where agriculture becomes an act of regeneration. Instead of fighting nature, this farm collaborates with it - producing abundance while restoring the land.

Syntropic Agroforestry participates in nature’s own creative force. The result is not only food, but living landscapes capable of healing soil, water cycles, and ecosystems. At a time when agriculture is often seen as a driver of environmental degradation, this story reveals another possibility:

> farming as a force for life
